What is the best way to visit the Valley of the Kings?

The Valley of the Kings is the royal necropolis of the New Kingdom on Luxor's West Bank. If the tombs are why you are going, book the Valley of the Kings Tour from €65. In about six hours you visit three tombs of your choice with an Egyptologist, with hotel transfers, and you can add Tutankhamun and Seti I. Tombs and tickets: what to expect

Our Valley of the Kings Tour includes three royal tombs of your choice. The tomb of Tutankhamun and the tomb of Seti I are optional additions, so they are not part of the standard three. We do not quote ticket prices in this guide because they are set at the site and can change. When you request availability, tell us whether you want Tutankhamun or Seti I and we will confirm in a written quote exactly which tombs and tickets your price covers.

Tour options compared

The Valley of the Kings Tour, from €65 for about six hours, is the one to choose if you want time inside the tombs. Hatshepsut Temple is nearby. The West Bank Tour, also from €65 for about six hours, covers the Valley of the Kings, Hatshepsut Temple and the Colossi of Memnon, plus an alabaster workshop visit. It suits travellers who want the whole west bank in one outing. The Luxor East & West Bank Tour, from €89 for about ten hours, adds Karnak and Luxor Temple, for travellers with a single day in Luxor.

Seeing the valley from the air

The Hot Air Balloon Luxor flight, from €89 for about three hours including transfers, is a sunrise flight over the Valley of the Kings, Hatshepsut Temple and the Nile. The flight itself lasts about 45 minutes, and hotel transfers are included. It does not go inside the tombs, so it works best alongside one of the ground tours above, for example a balloon flight at dawn followed by the Valley of the Kings Tour.

What to confirm before you book

Before you pay, confirm which three tombs you will see, whether Tutankhamun or Seti I is added, which tickets are part of your price and your pick-up time. Every trip page lists what is included and excluded, and we confirm the final price for your date and group in writing.
