East Bank Tour: Karnak and Luxor Temple

The East Bank Tour takes about five hours and costs from €45. It combines the two great east-bank monuments: Karnak, the largest religious complex of the ancient world, and the riverside Luxor Temple. An Egyptologist guides you and hotel transfers are included. It suits travellers who prefer temples to tombs, have a morning or afternoon free, or arrive on a Nile cruise that already visits the West Bank.

West Bank Tour: the royal tombs

The West Bank Tour takes about six hours and costs from €65. It is the classic Theban circuit: the Valley of the Kings, Hatshepsut Temple and the Colossi of Memnon, with an Egyptologist. The stored programme also includes a visit to an alabaster workshop. Choose it if the tombs are the reason you came to Luxor. If you want to spend longer in the Valley itself, read our Valley of the Kings guide, which compares the dedicated tomb tour with this one.

Full day or private: seeing both banks

The Luxor Full Day Tour from €89 is the must-do classic: Karnak, Luxor Temple, the Valley of the Kings and Hatshepsut in about ten hours with one Egyptologist and a lunch break. It suits travellers with a single day who want the highlights without planning. The Private Luxor Tour from €95 covers the same two banks over about ten hours, but fully private: your own car, your own Egyptologist and flexible timing. It suits families, couples and anyone who wants to start early or spend longer at one site.

What to confirm before you book

Each trip page lists exactly what is included and excluded. Before you pay, check three things: which sites are in your programme, whether entry tickets are part of your price, and your pick-up point and time. We confirm all of this in a written quote. If you are staying in Hurghada rather than Luxor, look at our Luxor day trips from Hurghada on the Luxor tours page instead of these local tours.
