Hurghada tours and excursions at a glance

Hurghada sits on Egypt's Red Sea coast and works as a base rather than a sightseeing city: almost everything travellers do here is an excursion out of the resort area. The excursions we operate fall into a few clear families.

Snorkelling and Red Sea boat trips

A snorkelling boat trip is the classic Hurghada day out. Boats head out to reef sites offshore, the crew stop for snorkelling, and the day is broken up with time on board. Our standard snorkelling trip includes two reef stops with mask and fins provided.

If you want reef time combined with a beach, the island trips are the better fit; if you want the reef itself to be the point of the day, the snorkelling trip is the more focused option. Non-swimmers can still see the reefs from the semi-submarine.

Islands and beach days

Orange Bay, Giftun Island, Paradise Island and Mahmya are separate islands and each day has a slightly different character — Giftun sits in a protected marine park, Paradise Island is the calmest and most family-friendly, and Mahmya is the premium option with loungers on a private beach.

All of them combine boat time, at least one snorkelling stop and free time on the sand, so the choice usually comes down to how much of the day you want on the beach rather than in the water.

Desert safaris and quad experiences

Inland from the coast the Eastern Desert opens up quickly, which is why safaris are so easy to add to a beach holiday. Quad biking is the most popular format; buggies are the more powerful two-seater alternative, and the Super Safari combines jeep, quad and camel in one longer day with a Bedouin dinner and show.

Camel rides and horse riding are also available separately for travellers who want something gentler than a motorised safari.

Day trips from Hurghada to Luxor

Luxor is the nearest place to see major pharaonic monuments from Hurghada, and it is reachable as a long day by road. Our Luxor day trip covers the East and West Bank with a guide and returns to Hurghada the same evening.

If a long single day does not appeal, the two-day private option splits the same sights across a more relaxed schedule with an overnight in Luxor.

Cairo trips from Hurghada

Cairo can be visited from Hurghada either overnight by road or by domestic flight, which turns it into a much shorter day. Both versions centre on the Giza pyramids, the Sphinx and a museum visit.

Travellers who would rather not rush also book the two-day private Cairo trip with a hotel night in the city.

Private or shared, and how to choose

Most Hurghada excursions can be run either as a shared departure or privately. Shared boats and safaris are the easier choice for a straightforward day at a lower cost; a private boat or private vehicle makes sense when you want to set the route and timing yourself, or when you are travelling as a family or a group.

A common pattern for a one-week stay is one sea day, one desert day and one cultural day trip, leaving the rest of the time for the hotel and the beach. If you tell us your dates and hotel, we confirm what is realistic before you book.
