Sites — this week's status
Pyramids of Giza: open, standard hours. Grand Egyptian Museum: open, all main galleries live. Egyptian Museum Tahrir: open, Royal Mummies Hall as usual. Karnak & Luxor Temple: open, Avenue of the Sphinxes walkable at night. Valley of the Kings: open, three rotating royal tombs plus optional add-ons. Abu Simbel: open, no special ceremony this week. Philae, Kom Ombo, Edfu: open on all cruise itineraries. Alexandria Bibliotheca and Catacombs: open standard hours.
Airports and flights
Cairo (CAI), Sphinx (SPX), Hurghada (HRG), Marsa Alam (RMF), Sharm (SSH) and Luxor (LXR) all operating normally. No unusual delays reported. If you land at SPX and are staying in Giza, expect a 15–20 minute transfer to your hotel.
Roads and transfers
Cairo–Alexandria desert road: normal, average 2h30 door-to-door. Luxor–Hurghada road: open, police escort no longer required in daylight but still nice to have for peace of mind. Cairo–Ain Sokhna: normal. Cairo–Bahariya (for Black & White Desert): normal, always go with a licensed guide.
Weather note
Cairo 30–36°C by day, 20–24°C by night, clear. Luxor 33–39°C by day, warmer, dry. Red Sea coast 28–33°C air, sea 26–29°C, north-westerly breeze in afternoons — good for kitesurf, still fine for snorkelling. No rain forecast anywhere on the tourist trail this week.
Ramadan / holidays
No public holiday impacting sites this week. Standard opening hours across the board. Alcohol availability normal in hotels and Red Sea resorts.
Nile cruises
3, 4 and 7-night cruises departing on schedule from both Luxor and Aswan. Water levels normal. If you are on a Dahabiya sailing boat, expect a slightly slower pace than the timetable suggests — that's the point.
One thing to book early this week
The GEM Tutankhamun gallery is running at capacity in the 10am–12pm slot. Book tickets in advance or go at opening (09:00) or after 3pm for a quieter visit.
