Egypt Visa Guide for 2026: Requirements, Fees and How to Apply

The official Egypt e-Visa portal lists two tourism options in 2026: a single-entry visa for US$30 and a multiple-entry visa for US$65. Choose single entry when you will enter Egypt once during the trip. Multiple entry may be appropriate when your itinerary leaves Egypt and returns again, for example as part of a wider regional journey. Select the visa type carefully because fees are non-refundable, including when an application is incomplete or refused. Pay only inside the official government portal using an accepted Visa, Mastercard or other debit card. Avoid lookalike commercial websites that add service charges or imply that approval is guaranteed. The portal's published fee is the visa charge; your bank may separately apply currency conversion or international transaction costs. Rules concerning visa validity, permitted stay and arrival arrangements can depend on the issued document and traveller profile. Read the conditions displayed during the application and on the approved visa rather than relying on an old screenshot or travel forum. Your passport must be valid for at least six months from the date you arrive in Egypt. Every traveller requires an application, although a parent can apply for children through the parent's account. For arrival, the official portal instructs travellers to carry a printed e-Visa, travel itinerary and hotel booking or details of the places they will visit. Keep paper and offline digital copies of the visa, passport, flight details, accommodation confirmations and your tour operator's contact information. Do not wait until airport check-in to discover that your passport lacks sufficient validity. Start at visa2egypt.gov.eg, the official Ministry of Interior portal, and create an account using an email address you monitor. Confirm the registration, sign in, select Apply Now, choose the visa type and read the on-screen instructions. Complete the form carefully, upload the requested material and pay online. The portal accepts Visa, Mastercard and other debit cards. Submit at least seven days before departure; applying earlier gives you time to correct a problem or contact a consulate if necessary. After processing, the portal sends an email with the application status. Log in to download the approved e-Visa and print it. Check every detail immediately against your passport. Do not treat a payment receipt or application confirmation as the visa itself. Each traveller must have the correct approved document. Save the PDF in more than one place and carry the printed copy in hand luggage. At the airport or other port of entry, present the same passport used in the application together with the printed e-Visa.
